Kumba: Hon. Tabot Youth Football Tourney To Soon Kickoff

A holiday football  tournament instituted  by the Member  of Parliament, MP for  Kumba Urban Constituency in the South West region, Hon Lawson Tabot Bakia  is set  to kick off Sunday September 6.

Youth in particular and the population as a whole in kumba would have a month to savour an exciting holiday football tournament.

The maiden edition of the competition is dubbed:” Youth football championship”.

The football championship is expected to run from September 6 to October 4, 2020, at the old-aged Government Practising school field, Kumba-Town in Kumba.

According to a release by the Section President of the Youth Wing of the CPDM Party for Meme 1A, Humphrey Andong Mbah, the competition is worth a million FCFA.

The aimed of the competition is to keep the youth busy during this holiday period and equally fish out budding talents that would be monitored and promoted to higher level.

Various prize tags have been allocated: Winner of the trophy shall go home with  a cash prize  of 400,000FCFA. The runners up shall receive 250, 000FCFA and the third team will take home 100,000FCFA.

Best Fans’ club shall take 50,000FCFA; Best disciplined team has been earmarked  to receive 40,000 FCFA; Highest goals Scorer shall be awarded 30,000FCFA; Best goalkeeper 30,000FCFA; Best Player of the tournament takes 25,000 FCFA; Best Referee shall take 30,000  FCFA; Man of the Match at the Finals goes home with 25,000 FCFA and; the Best Commentator shall receive 25,000  FCFA .

The various stakeholders involved in the competition are already strategizing to ensure a hitch-free competition. It is expected to be a crowd-pulling event.

Elected in the last twin polls, the Honourable Lawson Tabot Bakia fondly referred to by his people as Njalla, has set up a programme to fully bring kumba into the lamplight.

Some few months back, the Honourable Lawson Tabot Bakia alongside Senator Andrew Otte Mofa, donated a huge consignment of anti-COVID-19 hygienic kits and foodstuff to the population of kumba and Meme division in general.
