The Executive Management of the National School of Local Administration, NASLA that has been progressively put in place by a series of Presidential Decrees will be officially inaugurated on Friday, September 18 2020 in the city of Buea by the Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, George Elanga Obam.
After Decree No: 2020/111 of March 2 2020 creating and fixing the operations of the National School of Local Administration, NASLA, the President of the Republic, Paul Biya proceeded to appoint the pioneer Director General of NASLA, Mr Tanyi Tiku EnohAchuo Bayee on March 25 2020 and his Deputy Mrs Lidwine Ongolo Nyanguinda.
Five months after, the reality of NASLA had another twist, with another Presidential Decree appointing the first Board Chair of the institution, whose principal mission is to fast track the processes of decentralisation across Cameroon. He is Mr Mouhtar Ousman Mey, appointed by Decree No 2020/449 of August 11 2020. A day after, another Decree Nos 2020/452 of August 12 2020 came out with the nine Board Members of NASLA.
The various institutions represented in the Board of NASLA are; The Presidency of the Republic, The Prime Ministry, The Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development, The Ministry of Finance, The Ministry of Territorial Administration, The Ministry of Public Service and Administration Reform, The Ministry of Higher Education, FEICOM and the Representatives of Local Development.
NASLA was born from the ashes of the scrapped Local Government Training Centre, CEFAM, with headoffice in Buea, with a mission to reinforce the capacity of the actors in the chain of decentralisation and rapidly move on with the decentralisation processes in Cameroon.
