The Senior Divisional Officer for Meme division, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong has launched a scheme that would see security forces carry out a thorough check of passengers’ luggage.
The move according to the administrator is to ensure the safety of the entire population especially children as the 2020/2021 academic year gains steam.
Ntou’ou Ndong was in the field on Tuesday October 6, to implement this drive. At a Checkpoint at Mabonji, along the kumba-Buea Road, the Meme boss gave firmed instruction to the various Security Unit Heads present to ensure the thorough and proper check of not only the passengers but also the luggages there in.
For closed to one hour at the Checkpoint, the Senior Divisional Officer was seen dishing out instructions to Security Operatives on how to implement the exercise.
All passengers alighted from their vehicles and underwent scrutiny to ensure that they were not in possession of dangerous objects before entering the division. Suspicious objects were withheld and the owners interrogated and where they are found doubtful, they are subjected to further investigation.
The exercise is presently ongoing at all four entry points along the Kumba-Buea Road; kumba-Mamfe Highway ; Kumba-Tombel and; kumba-Ekondo Titi Highway.
The operation is paying off especially in the Divisional headquarters, kumba, where schools have effectively kicked-off for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The security situation in kumba has been seriously contained although there are isolated cases of aggression in some localities in the outskirts of kumba.
It is against this backdrop that, the Personal representative of the Head of State in Meme division, the Senior Divisional Officer has the obligation in ensuring the protection of lives and property in collaboration with the Forces of Law and Order and the entire population.
