Manyu, Nguti Population Schooled On Solar Energy
The population of Manyu division and Nguti in the South West region have been drilled on how solar electrification works for rural communities.
This was during an education meeting chaired by the Minister of Special Duties Minister at the Presidency of the Republic, Victor Arrey Mengot.
The project, Minister Mengot disclosed is out the change the dynamics of division and its environs. Ten villages in Manyu division are set to benefit from this project within the scope of the project to electrify 200 localities nanationwide.
There are: Defang I & II, Tali, Ekokeman, Agborkem, Ossele, Eshobi, Balin, Tinto and Kajifu. The Minister added that, discussions were underway to include the two localities of Akwaya and Eyang Atemako which were initially on the list. The solar electrification will cost 96 Billion F CFA. It is been executed by HUAWEI.
Minister Mengot highlighted that “for the past two years I have in collaboration with Mr OKIE Johnson Ndoh, DG of CSPH been following up an opportunity with the competent administrations – MINEE and ENEO- to improve on the electricity supply situation of Mamfe and Nguti. Following the completion of the work at the Memve’ele hydroelectric complex, two 5 MW generators that were hitherto used at the construction site were allocated to Mamfe and Nguti”.
He added that: “Our joint efforts – myself and Mr Okie Johnson – have finally borne fruit and work is currently on going in Mamfe and Nguti to build the platforms that will carry the heavy generating plants. My job is to fight to the general good of Manyu and by God’s grace the electricity problems of Mamfe and its environs should be alleviated in the very near future.”
Upon completion, the project is said to transform these communities to commendable heights.
