Bamenda II Council To Run On Over One Billion FCFA In 2021

The Bamenda II Council in Mezam division, North West region will run on a budget of over one billion FCFA in 2021.
The budget was adopted during a recent session of the council. According to Mayor Peter Chenwi, the council is embarking on education in the year 2021 with aim to revive the economic impact of the sector on the economy of the North West region.
The council which has been stepping up available means to ensure that the 2020/2021 academic year in the Bamenda II subdivision takes off hitch free with the donation of school didactics to teachers and school needs for children such as books, pens, pencils, bags etc.
Councillors unanimously voted the council’s budget for 2021 which stands at One Billion Six Hundred Thousand Francs. The mayor called on councillors to use reasoning rather than emotions, contribute rather than argue, correct errors done so that by the end of the day each and every one would be proud to have contributed to the wellbeing of the population.
The Chenwi-led team has been able to complete more than 90% of projects of the previous budget that was voted by the out gone team for the 2020 year.
“We gave assistance to persons with disabilities, two of our four palaces Nsongwa and Mbatuhave been assisted by the council. As concerns back to school, the council was at the fore front with a campaign through the councillors, administration and some elite. In the domain of education, the council constructed a block of two classrooms at GS Mbatu and provided benches to the newly constructed facilities, we constructed a nursery block, GS Ngomgham received teaching and assistive devices to help students with impairment” Mayor Chenwi noted.
The mayor declared further that, “with the intension of creating jobs for the youth, the council carried out training of 100 youths followed by the construction of a blocks industry. We constructed a farm house in Alankie with the intension to procure machinery to aid in the transformation of some basic products. We were also able to provide standard equipment to two health centers in the municipality, the integrated health center of Ntingkag and Chomba. We provided water to the Ntankah locality through the construction of a borehole close to the health center to ensure both the health center and the population should benefit”.
“We maintained some roads and culverts, constructed a civil status center. We can boost now of an elaborate council development plan with technical and financial help from our major partner PNDP. We reorganized the bike sector and in the domain of sports, the council organized sporting activities with a Christmas competition in the pipeline and lastly, we created some partnerships and paid a visit to the DDR Center and provided the youth there with some food items,” the municipal authority elaborated.
The Mayor’s hope for 2021 is to complete all earmarked projects and realize a good percentage of execution so as to maintain Bamenda II as the leader in development.
